PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Build a Green PC Winner Announced:

Perth, WA, 4th August 2008 – EDsys Computers

EDsys Computers enjoyed recent success in taking out the inaugural “Green PC Competition 2008”.  The competition was sponsored by Western Digital, Gigabyte and Intel.

Systems were independently judged, measuring the power consumption when idle and under load in kWh, then applying the results to measured performance metrics. The final score was calculated using a formula based on Microsoft research for averaged “real world” usage models for PC activity breakdown in the workplace.

EDsys Computers General Manager Greg McDougall said “We are thrilled to win this award - it has been a long standing policy at EDsys to re-use and recycle. Our industry as a whole generates an enormous amount of waste and it is up to all of us to take a proactive role in doing what we can to reduce our environmental impact.”

In addition to winning the award, EDsys Computers will receive as Grand Prize Winner, a Toyota Prius Hybrid Car. This vehicle will replace one of their fleet vehicles in an effort to further reduce environmental impact. Mr McDougall said “Winning the Toyota Prius is a great bonus, however the fact that we were able to demonstrate that EDsys Computers can build energy efficient PC’s is a bigger success for us, we believe that the prestige accompanied by winning this award and the recognition of our efforts in Green Technology is more important."

He went on to say “EDsys Computers is a leading distributor of peripherals, notebooks, workstations and servers Australia wide. We realised very early on that we have a social responsibility to be environmentally friendly. We have in place a number of internal environmental policies including our re-use and recycling programs and have been developing these policies and initiatives aimed at improving and reducing our environmental impact with the aim of becoming ISO14001 compliant. Our internal re-use and recycling programs encompass all packaging, paper and plastics which are generated via day to day business in the offices and via our peripheral distribution and/or the workstation and server assembly processes.”

In March 2008 EDsys Computers signed on with Carbon Neutral (www.carbonneutral.com.au) to show their support in reducing carbon emissions. They work collectively to educate people in reducing the emissions of their current systems, including via Carbon Neutral’s newsletters and website which feature facts relating to computers and their impact on the environment with hints and tips on how to save power via power saving settings etc.

EDsys Computers contribute quarterly to Carbon Neutral for tree planting to offset the carbon emissions created by their systems. Over the next 12 months they expect to fund the planting of in excess of 25,000 trees. This program was instigated as a way of fulfilling their social responsibilities to reduce carbon emissions and is something they and their resellers are proud of.
